InCyte Pathology Hosts Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic

October 4, 2010

Cars lined up early to receive flu shots

The InCyte Pathology parking lot was the site of the first Spokane County drive-thru flu shot clinic organized by the Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD). The health district hosted the clinic on Saturday, Oct. 2nd, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Drivers and up to three passengers, ages 13 and older, were directed to one of three drive-through lanes, where they rolled up their sleeves and received an injection protecting them against influenza for the season.

Cindy Thompson, SRHD Health Program Specialist, estimated about 350 flu shots were administered during the four hour outdoor clinic. “Participants seemed pleased with the convenience of not having to get out of the car. For many citizens, mobility is an issue and being able to get a flu shot in a drive-thru format was very helpful.”

Participants received instructions at each station

“InCyte Pathology actively supports community events that promote staying healthy,” said Gary Gemar, InCyte Pathology’s Chief Operating Officer. “When we were approached by the Spokane Regional Health District about this idea, we were happy to help out by offering our parking lot for the drive-thru component. I am glad that it was successful.”
