InCyte Pathology Participates in Othello’s First Free Cancer Screening Event

March 29, 2011

Regional healthcare providers offered free cancer screenings at Othello’s first free breast and cervical cancer screening event held on March 26th.  Patients began arriving Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.  By noon, cancer screenings were provided to 49 women from the Othello community.

The event was held at the Columbia Basin Health Associates (CBHA) 14th Avenue Medical Center.  Volunteers included CBHA providers, clinic manager, nursing staff, front desk staff, Tri-Cities Cancer Center (TCCC) Community Educator and TCCC volunteers.  InCyte Pathology donated Pap smear supplies and interpretations at a discounted rate.  Each woman received a breast exam, cervical exam with pap smear and a mammogram, which they could obtain conveniently next door at the Othello Hospital.

“This was a great opportunity to reach out to the Othello community and provide these valuable screenings,” said Brian Staley, M.D., InCyte Pathologist assigned to Kadlec Medical Center.
